Maybe he couldn't hear his snare in his monitor??? hence the snare bashing at the end? Sounds like a good excuse to me.....

I remember a gig where we were the opening act....no real sound check.....the sound guy increseases the volume out front without bringing up our stage mix.....all we could hear was ourselves boucing off the back wall....we were playing 46 and Two a Tool cover......needless to say things fell apart quite quickly.....

Another GREAT rescue after missing going back to the head of the song is on the MD 2000 DVD in the E Minor Shuffle after Neils solo. Vinnie didn't see the cue to go back to the head, but rescued it really great

It just boils down to a great muso, human, in-the-moment type thing.

I think Vinnie is probably still the most inspirational drummer to me, and oddly, it can be refreshing to hear them have off moments too. Not that we want to hear them play badly, just that it reminds us that they occasionally struggle too. I saw Vinnie play with Kimo Williams a couple of years ago and he either misread some stuff, or misplayed it. I didn't think any worse of him, it's just part of being a musician. No one's perfect, but some are a bit closer than others.

This little incident gave me more confidence. I always was scared to maybe read the Chart wrong or miss a cue, but on that DVD is showed me, that is doesn't sound bad if you change a bar too late ( well, if you are Vinnie, I guess) .

The key to this is that the band weren't in time in the first place with the backing track (the snare overlay). If you listen, you hear the fat THACK snare is 1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4, and that's why they fuck up. Vinnie is human, but only just, put it that way!
